The Truth About Pit Bulls
Pit bulls are one of the most vilified groups of pets in the United States, and wrongfully so! From bad press to total banning from some communities, “Pits” are actually one of the best choices for a lovable, loyable, laughable family companion.
Technically, there is no such breed as a Pit Bull. They are usually a mix of an American Staffordshire Terrier and a Bull Dog. Their never ending smiles come from the Staffordshire, and of course their broad strong shoulders come from the Bull dogs.
Pits are the absolute perfect pets for so many reasons! Although they do have a bit of a bad rep when it comes to getting along with other dogs, they love all humans unconditionally! Unlike other large breeds such as German Shepherds who tend to choose one family member as their favorite human, pits happily love everyone. They are gentle with babies, understand moods, and of course are very protective.
They do need exercise, so if you’re looking for a couch potato, this is not your best bet. Long runs at the beach, hiking in the woods, or a game of frisbee are their true goals in life!
If you are in the market for a larger dog that loves to have fun, is always happy, naturally gets along with everyone, is super intelligent, loyal to the end, and has a fairly long life span of about 15 years, this is the one!
